One Snowy Day
Oil on canvas
2024
One Snowy Day, was my first painting of 2024. This painting depicts a close-up of my wife following a lecture we collaboratively gave at Newcastle University on the digitisation of culture. The scene behind has been obscured into a loosely formed field of grey with hints of orange.
This painting shows some of my early attempts to incorporate both raw cadmium red and cadmium yellow into the construction of my figures. By doing so, I hoped to inject more warmth and life into the skin tones, and to move away from the desaturated tones of some of my previous works.
