When we reached the 5th week of ‘Responding to Images of the Body’ at AAL we were introduced to contemporary ideas on how collage can be used in constructing painting. I’ve been interested in collage, there’s something satisfying about carefully cutting a figure out of a magazine or newspaper, but I’ve never really thought how to implement that into my work.

I was hoping to find inspiration in a copy of Frieze magazine, and I did. It just so happened I was more inspired by the many pages of adverts between the sections of content, rather than the content itself.

These high fashion adverts compiled into an amalgam which became the inspiration for Collage.
