Fleecy Friends
Oil on canvas
2024
Sheep are curious, but often a bit daft. When walking around the field behind my mum’s house in Yorkshire, we found ourselves closely followed by this small flock of tups (male sheep). This wasn’t done in an aggressive or threatening way, if anything they were just curious about the new visitors to their field.
We stopped briefly and they stepped closer, clearly wanting to get a better look, but were hesitant to let us get much closer, as they backed away when we attempted to get closer ourselves. They seemed quite content being friends, if only at a distance.
Fleecy Friends was produced during my weekly oil painting classes.
