Thinker on the Metro was the final work I produced as part of AAL’s Responding to Images of the Body and combined my research on both the previous works, Beard and Snooze on the Metro.

Similar to both, the subject is rendered in warm greys. This time the subject is significantly smaller than in both previous works and is more clearly defined from the background. The background itself is rendered in colours not too dissimilar to raw and injured skin, with square loosely blended brush strokes pieced together in a quasi ‘box weave’ pattern.

Overall the vibrant background somewhat overwhelms the more neutral subject almost as if they are being sucked into a larger living being.
